George Burr
Coroner's Inquest Report.
State of Indiana,
Porter County, } SS.
BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the 26th day of October, 1879, information was given to me that the dead body of a man lay in Portage township in said state and county, supposed to have to his death by violence or casualty, and to ascertain, so far as possible, the cause and circumstances of said death, witnesses were called and sworn, and their material evidence reduced to writing, signed by me and filed in the Clerk's office of said county; whereupon I find that the decedent's name was George Burr, that he was 32 years old, of indescribable complexion, six feet high, dressed in gray pants, with dark strips one inch apart, linen shirt, hose and underclothes, socks marked "B" on bottom, and that he came to his death by being drowned in Lake Michigan, he being the man who went up with Prof. Wise in a balloon in St. Louis, September 28, 1879. The body of said deceased person was committed to the charge of his father in Chicago, for burial.
Wm. C. PARAMORE,
Coroner of Porter county.
