Abby Elizabeth Bundy
OBITUARY.
Lines written for the VIDETTE, August 30, suggested by the recent sudden death of ABBY ELIZABETH, youngest daughter of JAMES and ADALINE BUNDY, aged 3 years.
A voice descended from above,
So sweet, I stood entranced to hear;
Its accents, filled with heavenly love,
Fell softly upon my list'ning ear.
A name was wafted on the air,
Soft was the breath of summer even --
'TWAS ABBY, beautiful and fair,
Called from this earth to live in heaven.
The call she hastened to obey,
Though friends and parents mourn and weep;
Her spirit angels bore away
And laid her body down to sleep.
While with their sobs the air shall ring,
That their last loved should go so young,
Another gem, heaven's choir will sing,
Shines bright our glorious ranks above.
Then, father, cease that stifled sob,
And mother, dry thy flowing tears;
Your lovely babe is spotless robe
Now ranges through the highest spheres.
-- Selected lines from her Aunt Purshal.
