Dr. Brown, of Michigan City, Shoots Himself in a Temporary Fit of Insanity.
In a fit of temporary insanity Dr. Brown, of Michigan City, president of the board on pension commissioners, shot himself fatally Sunday morning. He had been suffering for some time with organic heart disease and during the past few days the pain he was afflicted with was excessive. Dr. Brown was a prominent physician of Michigan City, where he located about 20 years ago. He was at one time city clerk and served a term as coroner of Laporte. He was a prominent Mason and belonged to other orders. His life was insured for $9,000. Dr. Brown was born in Vermont 58 years ago, but left there for Illinois where he resided before coming to Michigan City. He leaves a wife and five children, two of whom live at home. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon and several of our citizens attended. Among those who will go over are Drs. Annis and Martin of the pension board. Dr. Brown was a man of more than average ability in his profession and was highly respected in the community in which he lived.
