Hiram Bickford

The remains of Hiram Bickford were brought to this city from Chicago for burial on the 27th ult. Mr. Bickford was a victim of consumption. He died at his home in Chicago on the 25th. He was formerly a citizen of Valparaiso, and was well known to many of the old residents here. He was for several years engaged in the hardware business, at one time with L. Carpenter, and later with W. F. Park. The remains of Mr. Bickford were met at the depot by the hearse which had been provided at the instance of Mr. Horace Dygart, a relative of the deceased. The funeral was preached at the Baptist church by Rev. E. S. Riley. Mrs. Bickford, the widow, with several relatives, accompanied the remains to this place. The burial was largely attended by Mr. Bickford's former acquaintances of this place.
