Silas Beam
SUSPECTED FOUL PLAY.
But the Examination Made by Coroner Ketchum Proves the Contrary.
Coroner Ketchum was called to Liberty township Friday morning of last week to investigate the sudden death of Silas Beam, who died Thursday night. Relative suspected foul play, owing to some stories told recently by the old gentleman to neighbors.
Coroner Ketchum held a post mortem examination which revealed that Beam died from gall-stones. Beam was about 85 years old and leaves a wife and two children. He had been a resident of the county for fifty years.
Beam was at one time a resident of Valparaiso, the family running a boarding house on College Hill. At that time he was sexton at the Presbyterian church.
