Spencer L. Beach
CROWN POINT MAN KILLS HIMSELF SUNDAY EVENING.
Crown Point, Ind. Jan. 4. -- Crown Point citizens were shocked beyond measure Sunday evening, when news of the tragic death of Spencer L. Beach, one of the city's best known citizens, was circulated on the streets. Mr. Beach died instantly from a self-inflicted wound, at his home on South Main street, the tragedy occurring about 7 o'clock. A revolver found in the forehead caused almost instant death, the lifeless form being found in the kitchen of the home only a few seconds after the report of the firing was heard. Mr. Beach resigned his position as agent of the Pennsylvania lines here just about a year ago, after nearly a lifetime service in the road's employment, and it is said he had brooded over the lack of employment since that time and had hinted at self-destruction before the last tragic act.
