John Anderson
Fatal Accident.
Last Friday at three o'clock in the afternoon, a fatal accident occurred on the Moulding Brick yard, resulting in the death of John Anderson, a well-known citizen of this township. The accident occurred in the kiln. It appears that he was at work sorting brick near the gangway where brick are wheeled out into cars. A car had been loaded a short time before, and the plank which extended from the kiln to the car had been withdrawn, and a gang of men went to push down another car to be loaded. While they were doing this someone pushed out the plank, so that the end projected over the track. The car coming down, struck the plank, throwing it around, and the end which was inside the kiln struck Anderson in the back of the head, crushing his skull. He lived but a short time afterwards.
Mr. Anderson was a native of Sweden, and owned a well-improved farm just south of the high bridge crossing the Michigan Central railroad, north of town. He was a devout member of the Swedish M. E. church, industrious, and greatly repsected by all who knew him. He was about 35 years of age -- just in the prime of life, with bright prospects before him. The funeral was from the M. E. church last Sunday at 3 o'clock, and was largely attended. Deceased leaves a wife and two small children to mourn his loss. The grief-stricken family have the sympathy of the entire community in this, their time of sorrow.
