Ollie Griflen Alyea
HEBRON, Ind. -- Died at her home in Hebron, Ind., Nov. 21, 1891, of dropsy of the heart, Mrs. Ollie Griflen Alyea, wife of our townsman Geo. R. Alyea. She was born in Pulaski county, Ind., July 26, 1854. She was married to Geo. R. Alyea June 12, 1872. To this union were born five children one of which is dead, the others three girls and a boy and the husband survive her. She united with the M. E. church in 1870, and up to the day of her death she was a member of that church. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a christian, and was well respected by her neighbors and friends. She leaves three sisters and four brothers still living to mourn her departure. The funeral services were held in the M. E. church Monday, Nov. 23rd, at 2 o'clock p. m. The Rev. J. B. Sites preached the funeral sermon. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends to pay their last respects to one whom they knew in life, but has gone to that land from which no traveler returns. She was buried in the cemetery south of town.
"O ye weary, sad and tossed ones,
Droop not, faint not by the way;
Yu shall join the loved, and just ones
In the land of perfect day.
Harp strings touched by angels fingers
Murmured in my raptured ear,
Evermore their sweet song lingers;
We shall know each other there."
Mrs. Jennie McTiever, of Bluffton, Ind., attended the funeral of her sister Mrs. Ollia Alyea, here last Monday.
