DIED. -- Mrs. Anna Adams, aged 43 years, wife of W. H. Adams, Aug. 31, 1884, at 9 o'clock p. m. Deceased was born in Rush Co., Ind., Dec. 1, 1844, and was the daughter of Wm. And Charlote Newby. She was married to Jacob M. Brary in 1860, living with him until his death in May 1870. There was one child born to them, a daughter now Mrs. Gurtie, wife of Thomas J. Dilley, of this town. December 23, 1871, Mrs. Bray married W. A. Adams at Indianapolis, and soon afterwards moved with her husband to his present home, three and one-fourth miles south-west of town, in Eagle Creek township, Lake county, where they have lived ever since. Mrs. Adams was taken sick in September, 1883, with cancer. She underwent a surgical operation, having the cancer cut out, March 1, 1884, after which she seemed to be improving for eight weeks. A gradual decline then began, and it seemed impossible for medical skill to have any material effect on the disease. A few days ago, she was taken with the last severe sickness which resulted in her death. The last five weeks of her life she could not bear any food on her stomach for the reason of apparent weakness. The pains accompaning her disease were terrible, scarcely abating at any time, but the lady bore it all very patiently to the last. The funeral services were held at the residence on Monday last at 3 o'clock p. m., Rev. J. M. Buckman, of the United Presbyterian church of this place, officiating. The remains were brought to the Hebron cemetery for interment. Deceased united with the M. E. church about 13 years ago, and has been a faithful member of the same ever since. She was a kind mother and a dutiful wife, and leaves a husband and daughter and many other relatives and friends to mourn her loss. The bereaved friends have the sympathy of all.
