Milton Yost Dies In France
Word was received on August 5 by Ruby L. Field, RR 5, that PFC Milton A. Yost,
32, was killed in action on July 21 in France while participating in the assault
on St. Lo.
Pfc. Yost was born in Franklin, Ind., Sept. 17, 1911, and was brought to
Valparaiso in 1913. He is survived by two sisters, Mary Louise Broz,
Indianapolis, and Clara Belle Mattwig, Cleveland; a brother Paul Yost, and his
father, A. H. Yost, both of Indianapolis.
Yost had been employed by the Continental-Diamond Fibre Co., before joining the
army March 26, 1942. He received his early training at Camp Claiborne, La., with
the 82nd Airborne Glider Div., 326th Inf., under Lt. Gen. Omar N. Bradley.
He undertook further training at Ft. Bragg, N. C., Mackall, and Ft. Meade, from
which he was sent to England and then to France.

Posthumous Award Made To Former Valpo Resident
A Purple Hart has been awarded posthumously to Pfc. Milton Yost, 32, former
Continental Diamond Fibre company employe, who was killed in action on July 21,
1944, in France, while participating in the assault on St. Lo.
Word to this effect was received here by Mrs. Ruby Field, Valparaiso RFD 5, in
whose home Yost lived.
The award has been sent to his father, A. H. Yost, living at Indianapolis.
Yost joined the army March 26, 1942, and received his early training at Camp
Claiborne, La., with the 82nd Airborne Glider Division, 326 Infantry, under Lt.
Gen. Omar N. Bradley.
He undertook further training at Fort Bragg, N. C., Camp Mackall and Fort Meade,
from where he was sent to England and then to France.

Plan Service At Indianapolis For Sgt. Milton Yost
The body of Sgt. Milton Yost, 32, former Valparaiso resident, who was killed in
action July 21, 1944, while participating with American forces on the assault on
St. Lo in France, has arrived in Indianapolis, according to word received here
by Mr. and Mrs. Owen Field, RFD 5, Valparaiso, in whose home Yost lived.
Services for the war hero will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Shivley
Brothers' mortuary on Illinois street, Indianapolis, and burial will be in Crown
Hill cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Owen Field and son, Elmer, and Mrs. Bessie Vroman will attend the
services from this city.
