Mr. and Mrs. James H. Somers received a telegram from the war department Tuesday
informing them their son, Sgt. James Somers, ball turret gunner on a Flying
Fortress, is missing in action over Czechoslovakia since Sept. 12. No further
details were given.

Mr. and Mrs. James H. Somers received a telegram last Friday from the war
department, that their son, James K. Somers was killed in action September 12
near Trelleburg, Sweden. He had previously been reported missing in action.
Besides his parents, he leaves a brother Paul, in the navy, and two sisters,
Mary Elizabeth and Barbara, at home. His father is a veteran of World War I.
Sgt. Somers was born Jan. 1, 1923, at Fort Russell, Cheyenne, Wyo. He attended
St. Patrick's school and graduated from Chesterton high school in 1941. He
entered the service April 23, 1943, and went overseas June 21, 1944, a member of
the Eighth Air Force. He received his wings at Fort Meyers, Fla. His parents
received the air medal for their son several weeks ago.
