Memorial Services Held Thursday For Damon Sanders
Memorial services for Sgt. Damon Sanders, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Sanders, of
Valparaiso, were held Thursday at Medaryville, Ind., where the family formerly
resided. The body arrived Wednesday at Monon from overseas and was ecorted by an
honor guard.
Young Sanders was born June 21, 1920, at Medaryville, and entered the service in
May, 1942. He went overseas in March, 1944, as a gunner with a tank destroyer
company, and was killed in action in Germany Feb. 8, 1945. He was buried in the
American cemetery in Belgium.
Besides the parents he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ada Hill, Miss Nadine
and Katherine Sanders, Medaryville, and five brothers, Jack, James and Delos,
Valparaiso; Randolph, Westville, and Gilbert, Leroy.
