Campbell Cemetery, Washington TownshipIndex of Campbell Cemetery burials . . . .
The Campbell Cemetery address is 302 Silhavy Road in the northwest quarter of
the southwest quarter of Section 20. There is no roadway access leading to the
cemetery; it is situated in a wooded area approximately 300 feet east of Silhavy
Road and 100 feet north of John Howell Drive. The Washington Township plat maps
published in 1876, 1895, 1906, and 1921 do not show the presence of this
cemetery. The cemetery itself is platted on an area 130 feet long by 70 feet
wide.
The cemetery is completely surrounded by a fairly substantial concrete wall that
was erected in 1909. A pioneer cemetery, all known burials in the cemetery are
of Campbell family members.
The Northwest Indiana Genealogical Society cemetery index published for
Washington Township indicates that previous cemetery records state that:
"The cemetery is on the Martin Cain farm,
protected forever
by a huge cement wall."
Please note that this cemetery is located on private property. Permission is
required to access the cemetery grounds.

Obituary 3: Death of Mrs. Eastburn. -- Mrs. D. B. Eastburn, whose
dangerous illness we have mentioned frequently of late, died this morning at 9
o'clock of puerperal fever at the residence on Portage avenue, opposite Chapin
Place. She had been sick but little more than a week, and although during that
time she received all the attention that medical skill, and the loving care that
friends could give, death gained the mastery. Mrs. Eastburn's maiden name was
Nellie Campbell. She was the daughter of Mr. S. A. Campbell, an old resident of
Porter county, near Valparaiso, this state, and was born their November 9th,
1859, being little more than 24 years old at the time of her death. She was
married September 15th, 1880, to Mr. David B. Eastburn, then residing at Fowler,
Ind., and removed to this city two years ago, her husband being engaged as
manager of the Marvin Campbell hardware establishment. They built a handsome
cottage on Portage avenue the past summer and moved into it but a few months
ago. The deceased was possessed of a lovely disposition, and had a wide circle
of devoted friends. She was an earnest christian and a member of the First M. E.
church of this city. She leaves to mourn her early death besides a husband and
two children, one aged two years, the other a babe eight days old, a father,
step mother, and three brothers, Hon. Marvin Campbell and Myron Campbell, of
this city, and Otto Campbell, of Valparaiso. The friends have the sympathy of
all in their deep affliction. The funeral services will be held at the residence
to-morrow afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. H. Hickman, pastor of the
First M. E. church. The remains will be taken to Valparaiso on the 7 o'clock
train Friday morning over the Grand Trunk road for interment in the family
burying ground on her father's farm. -- South Bend Tribune.
