HARRY J. ARNOLD - The secretary-treasurer of the French Motor Company of Valparaiso was born in Rensselaer, Indiana, on December 4, 1890, the son of Elias and Susie V. (Lesh) Arnold, the former of whom was of Wabash and the latter from Ohio. To the parents of our subject were born six children: Harry J., Kathryn, Sylvanus, Marie, Bethel, and Elias, Jr.
Mr. Arnold was educated in the Rensselaer High School and Valparaiso University, and for a number of years was an active farmer. He continued his occupation as farmer until February, 1926, when he became associated with his brother-in-law, Marshall F. French, in the French Motor Company of Valparaiso.
He was united in marriage with Helen, daughter of Ira F. and Ella (McDowell) Meader of Chicago, the former originally from Benton County, Indiana, and the latter from Boone County, Indiana. To Mr. and Mrs. Arnold were born three children: Elizabeth, Robert, and Harriet. Mr. Arnold is a member of the Rensselaer lodge of Masons, Izaac Walton League, and the Kiwanis Club.
