Remark: On October 25, 1910, Hubbard and Finnette Hunt gifted their house, located on North
Washington Street, to the City of Valparaiso for use as the city's first library
building. The Hunt house served as the city library until the opening of the Carnegie Library
in 1916. The house was then used for a number of years by the city, but later
abandoned and sold in 1928 to Charles E. Foster, Sr., who razed it.
