Remark: The C.E.E., or Christian Endeavors Experts, were trained in
applying the concepts of Christian religion and unity across various
denominations to causes related to education and benevolence. The minister seen
at the far left is believed to be Claude Eugene Hill, a Disciple of Christ
minister and the pastor of Valparaiso's Christian Church at the time this
photograph was taken. Hill was nationally known for his work with the C.E.E. and
was a trustee of the United Society of Christian Endeavor. Hill was born on
January 11, 1874, in Pike County, Missouri, and would pass away at Tulsa, Tulsa
County, Oklahoma, on February
10, 1957. He is buried at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Tulsa. In the 1940s, Hill was recognized in
World Call as one of the best Christian preachers in the United States
being listed in the top ten
among 8,500 ministers.
