Remark: Pitkin & Brooks, headquartered in Chicago, was a well
known importer and manufacturer of housewares. The company imported many
products for sale, such as china, queensware, crockery, novelties, lamps, and
chandeliers. The majority of the company's cut glass products were manufactured
in Valparaiso. The Valparaiso facility was located at Center Street and West
Lincolnway and operated from 1911 to 1918. The L. E. Myers Company and the Valparaiso Technical Institute later
occupied the Pitkin & Brooks site. The view in this image is looking
southeast; the Porter County Court House can be seen on the horizon.
