Remark: School was taught at Salt Creek from 1837 to 1856, but a building was not constructed specifically for that purpose until after 1856. The school at Salt Creek became overcrowded at some time before the Civil War, resulting in the construction of the Babcock School located north of Babcock Station and east of Crocker. Teachers at the Salt Creek School included Mrs. Hayes, Miss Massey, and Miss Hayden.
