Remark: This photograph, taken facing southwest, shows a locomotive
traveling northeast on the Michigan Central Railroad tracks and crossing the New
York Central Railroad's tracks. A
major railroad wreck took place at this location on
February 27, 1921, that resulted in 37 deaths and more than 100 injuries. The
wreck was the consequence of a New York Central passenger train plowing
through the middle of Michigan Central passenger train.
