Remark: The building in the center of this
postcard is the Johnson Brothers & Swanson Department Store. Immediately to the
left of the department store is an empty lot that had been occupied by the
Central House Hotel, which burnt to the ground in 1908. To the right of the
department store is the Club Cigar Store. At the far left where the trees are
visible is property owned by the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway, which
later became Railroad Park. Today, Railroad Park is known as Thomas Centennial
Park. The station mentioned on this postcard is the Lake Shore & Michigan
Southern Railway station.
