Remark: This photograph was taken looking
west along the north side of Indiana Avenue. The church visible on the right
side of this image is the Methodist Episcopal Church, which today [2015] would
be the northwest corner of Indiana Avenue and Second Street. To the left of the
church is the public school of Chesterton; the Westchester Public Library now
stands at the site of the School. The steeple seen is the distance is St.
Patrick Roman Catholic Church. Constructed in 1876, St. Patrick was destroyed by
fire in 1998.
