Club Youth Camp. Located on Howe Road, near Porter, Indiana. The youth camp is
operated by the Good Fellow Club of Gary Steel Works through contributions of
members whose interest in youth activities has made the operation of the camp
possible.
The summer camp was constructed by the United States Steel Company for children
of its employees. Comprising a total of 63 acres located along the Little
Calumet River, the camp operated from 1941 to 1976. In 1976, the National Park
Service purchased the property as part of its expansion of the Indiana Dunes
National Lakeshore. Today, the Indiana Dunes Environmental Learning Center
occupies the former Good Fellow Camp property.
