View of Sagers
Valparaiso, Indiana

Date: 1907 or 1908
Source Type: Postcard

Postmark: May 5, 1908, Valparaiso, Indiana
Collection: Steven R. Shook
Remark: The large building with tower on the horizon is the Porter County court house. Three church steeples can be seen just to the right of the court house. The angled, open-frame wooden structure that is visible in the foreground was a recreation chute located on the south side of Sager's Lake. People would get into a boat at the top of the chute and then the boat would slide down the chute at a high rate of speed into the lake. The ride was commonly referred to as the "Chute-the-Chute."
