Miller's Pavilion at Long Lake
Valparaiso, Indiana

Date: Circa 1930
Source Type: Postcard
Publisher, Printer, Photographer: Brooks and Chapek (#209)
Postmark: None
Collection: Steven R. Shook
Remark: As early as 1876, J. Hamell owned the property abutting the northwest corner of Flint Lake and the eastern shore of Long Lake. A resort was located in this area, which also included a natural channel connecting Flint Lake with Long Lake. Seen here is Miller's Pavilion. An interurban station along the Valparaiso & Northern Railway was located about one block from the beach located on the opposite shore from Miller's Pavilion. Individuals arriving by train would walk to the beach and then take a boat or ferry across the lake to the pavilion.
