Remark: This postcard image shows a view of the Wilcox Building at Hebron, Porter County, Indiana, which was razed by fire on September 16, 1912. The Grand Opera House was located on the second story of the building. Two businesses on the first floor of this building that were destroyed by this fire were the Baldwin & Rathburn grocery and meat market and the plant of the Hebron Weekly News newspaper. This postcard image also shows Sherman Alyea's dry goods store, which did not burn down. The photographer is facing northwest viewing the corner of Main Street and 6th Street. Note that 6th Street is known today [2023] as West Alyea Street.
