Remark: BLACK-EYED SUSAN (Rudbeckia). Summer -- Petals rich yellow, center disk purple, brown or black. Common in fields, woods and prairies. Quebec to Florida westward. In Indiana National Lakeshore.
HAZEL HANNELL, painter and potter, moved from Chicago to Indiana and has been involved there in local art activities and working in the Save the Dunes Council toward the establishment of the National Lakeshore Park. She has recorded in block prints many of the native wild flowers of which this is an example.
